This wedding shoot at 41 Creek Ranch in Abilene, TX was so spectacular. Jordan, the bride, has been one of my closest friends since undergrad. In December of 2016, her and Alfonso got married on their family’s ranch in the freezing cold with all of their family and closest friends there to celebrate. It was such a fun and special day, and the only downfall to their wedding was THEY DIDN’T GET ANY PICTURES. Well, maybe they got like three? But seriously, my nightmare for all of those getting married happened to these two! So, we did the only thing we could. They drove from Fort Worth to Abilene to get back in their wedding attire and recreate some memories!
I wanted to make this day really special. As someone that’s been married for almost two years, I know the trials that come along with those first couple years. Sometimes life gets the best of us and we forget to be intentional or celebrate the relationship we’re in. I mean, when you think about it we celebrate our relationships the most when we get married…but then what happens after that? I guess there’s always anniversaries, but I still wanted this to be more than just a shoot. Luckily, I had Stephanie from Jordan Events and 41 Creek Ranch to partner with. Stephanie brought the makeup and hair artists together, provided her beautiful venue, along with a gorgeous table set and beautiful bouquet. It was such a gorgeous day (hot as heck, but still gorgeous). I sometimes tend to think that Abilene doesn’t have anything special to offer, and then I come to venues like 41 Creek Ranch and am put right back in my place. The way the sun set over the lookout was extraordinary!
Thankfully, Jordan seemed to have the same idea in regards to making this evening special. She spent some time in the weeks leading up to our shoot on writing some kind words for Alfonso. His first language was Spanish, so naturally Jordan practiced writing and articulating her affections in his language. She read it over and over while she was getting her hair and makeup done, and it was so precious how much effort she was putting into it. When we finally got out to the venue, she pulled out her notecard and started reading those sweet, Spanish words. Alfonso was basically crying and laughing at the same time, and it was such a beautiful moment to capture. I have no idea what she said, but I’m assuming it was really cute. Then Alfonso took it upon himself to read Jordan’s words to her (probably way more accurately, but let’s be real I couldn’t tell the difference). I’m so glad Jordan had the idea to start of the shoot that way, because it started us off with all the right feels. The rest of the evening I just third-wheeled as these two got to spend some time together in their wedding clothes, and it was perfect. I’m so glad that now in the years to come they will have these photos to look back on and cherish.
If you didn’t get gorgeous photos (or any photos) from your wedding day, that’s okay! We can still recreate some memories and make new ones! Or maybe you aren’t wanting a big wedding, and just want to elope with your person and have those intimate moments captured. Either way, contact me! I would so love to play a role in telling your story.
There will be a list of vendors at the bottom of this post!
