That’s right. It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic is throwing all wedding plans up in the air for tons of couples, including Rachel and Scott. Their wedding was planned for April 10th in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. However, it was no longer a safe option considering how quickly and immensely this virus has grown across the globe. I have been so sad for my couples having to face the tough decisions of changing their wedding date. Rachel and Scott moved theirs to be in late June, but in no way wanted to wait that long to get married! So, they came up with the plan to have their wedding at Chapel Dulcinea in Austin, TX. Rachel and Scott wanted to keep their wedding date the same – April 10th. After all, they’ve been looking forward to that date for months now!
The Austin area was going to mandate a stay-at-home order within the next day. Rachel and Scott called me to discuss what the best plan of action was. Scott asked if I was available within the next couple of days. Considering all of my weddings and sessions were getting moved to early summer, I was completely free. So…how about tomorrow?! They called their officiant and checked Chapel Dulcinea’s availability. Before you know it, the plan was set! These two are getting married TOMORROW.
With this stay-at-home order in place and the unpredictability of COVID-19, who knew when it would be safe again to be out? They wanted to get married ASAP. I was so happy to be invited to capture such an intimate gathering. Only a couple of close family members came in order to keep everything safe and follow the guidelines. It was such a sweet, intimate and joyous evening. It is not easy to stay positive and look at the bright side of things during a time like this. I feel for all of my couples that have had to make hard decisions in regards to their wedding day.
But, my biggest advice is to cling to what really matters. The details and the big celebration is important, but ultimately, it can wait. It’s upsetting, but it can be pushed back for the safety of everyone involved. But, that doesn’t mean your life together as a married couple has to wait. I’m so happy these two saw it that way!
Rachel and Scott share a love for the hill country. So, this area was the perfect spot for their wedding. They watched the sunset over the amazing hill country views. As it went down, they popped some champagne and shared a sweet little cake with their family… What could you complain about, right?
So, like I said, this Chapel Dulcinea wedding was one for the books. Planned in 24 hours due to difficult circumstances, but still so joyful. Keep scrolling to see the perfect evening unfold.
You captured this elopement beautifully!
