This sunrise engagement session at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park was a dream come true.

Seriously, I have been fantasizing about Glacier Point for so long, and last month, I finally got to see the immensity for myself. I’ve been to Yosemite before, and even shot an engagement session there (check out the blog here), but Glacier Point Road was closed due to weather conditions. So I was finally here again, and I couldn’t shake the goosebumps when we stepped out of the car and took in this view. Half Dome was seriously showing off this morning.

Now, this morning wasn’t particularly easy.

It was mostly difficult because it required a VERY early and long day. My photographer friends and I woke up at 2am in order to get our butts out the door at 2:30am. Anyone that knows me knows I am not a morning person, although I don’t know if you can even classify that as morning. The sunrise time was at 5:30am, and we had quite a drive, but we couldn’t risk missing it. Shout out to Nikki and Jacob for getting their butts out of bed in the middle of the night, too! I think we can all agree that it was super worth it.

There are seriously no words to describe how I felt when the sun peaked over Half Dome.

Sure, I’ve seen gorgeous pictures. But it was absolutely magical. As the sun shone through, light flooded the mountains and illuminated the view. The colors of the mountains were changing with every minute from the sun, and it was so wild. I know it is a popular spot, but that did not take away the magic for me one bit. I love that Nikki wore an orange dress because it was the perfect contrast to the blue mountains.

While the view was extraordinary, Nikki and Jacob’s connection was even more breathtaking.

The way they embraced each other on the rock was so strong and intimate. They could go from laughing to just quietly holding each other, and everything felt right. As the sun became crazy bright, we walked a little more on Glacier Point Road and found a good spot to run around a little bit. The sun was higher and the mountains looked so insanely blue!

I seriously could go on and on, but these engagement photos at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park will always be one of my favorite shooting experiences.
