Kauai Surfing Engagement Shoot | Secret Beach, Hawaii | Sarah + Derik

I seriously cannot get over this surfing engagement session at Secret Beach in Kauai, Hawaii! It was beyond perfect. Derik is so passionate about surfing, and tries to go every day, so this was a perfect example of incorporating who your into your session! Sarah and Derik are like the DREAM surfing couple, am I right?? All the long wavy blonde hair is giving me all the California surf vibes. And can we just talk about Sarah’s bikini from Albion Fit? I’m obsessed with it! But seriously, this was the perfect evening. It was like 75 degrees, and it was pretty cloudy, but the sun would occasionally peek through the clouds. The waves were crashing all over the place, and just thinking about the sound is making me super nostalgic. I loved how playful these two were in the water, and how adorably affectionate they were with each other. I kind of felt like I was in the lake scene of the Notebook, and can feel all those “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird” vibes as I look back through the photos.

I seriously can’t stress enough how fun it is when you incorporate more of your personality into your engagement shoot! Whether that is a love for surfing, pizza, or wine! It not only gives you photos that represent your relationship well, it makes you so much more comfortable! These two go to the beach pretty much everyday, so of course, they were in their element for this session! What is an idea for you? For me and my husband, it would definitely be an in-home session. We love nothing more than cuddling up on the couch together with some pizza! I have an upcoming session that’s going to be at a library! How fun is that? Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box!
