Kings Canyon National Park Anniversary Photos | Dan + Tyler

BOY OH BOY, these anniversary photos at Kings Canyon National Park make me SO happy.

Kings Canyon is such a gorgeous national park in Northern California, and I was just dying over the tall trees and the beautiful meadows. Being from Texas, I don’t often get to see many trees so this woodsy place was absolutely mesmerizing to me. There is seriously nothing like the sun peaking through those tall trees, creating the most beautiful glow!

Dan and Tyler were in the midst of a traveling trip to celebrate their one year wedding anniversary.

I don’t think enough people book anniversary sessions, but I think they are SO fun. What is a better way to celebrate the vows you took and the best day ever than getting back in those wedding clothes and reminiscing a little bit? I love doing these because they are so carefree (often more carefree than the wedding, that’s for sure!) and the photos that turn out are so special.

We started the evening out with some casual outfits and exploring the campsite Dan and Tyler were going to spend the night.

It was so fun running around the woods and cuddling up on tree logs while the sun was coming down. Some of the tree stumps we found were so incredibly huge, I was blown away! Both Dan and Tyler have such sweet, genuine souls. Being around them was honestly just immediately peaceful. They’re also a duo wedding photography team, so they were a PIECE OF CAKE to photograph haha. They definitely know what looks good! My favorite photos from this part of the evening were when the sun was directly on their faces and their skins radiated the most beautiful glow. I love shooting in direct sunlight!

Then, these two lovebirds pulled their wedding clothes out of their trunk and got dressed in a little pop-up tent that functions as a portable closet.

Now, that’s some adventure, right? I seriously loved taking unconventional getting ready photos outside next to a trunk filled with packing gear. It just reinforces my dream of shooting more outdoorsy weddings and elopements!

We headed to a wide-open meadow where the sunset was unbelievable, the ground was swampy, and the bugs were ruthless. Because of the wet grass, Tyler and Dan needed to stick to standing in the same spot, while the rest of us were running all around them. It definitely challenged some more creativity, and it was so much fun.

Those were just a few reasons as to why this shoot at Kings Canyon National Park was one of my faves.

But trust me, there are plenty more. Just look at these two! I’m so thankful for Dan and Tyler taking on this adventurous evening with my lovely photographer friends. NorCal, I’m obsessed with you and can’t wait to see you again!

If you want to book an anniversary session like these two, let’s chat! They are seriously the BEST.
