Wow wow wow, there are no words for this engagement session in Little Rock, Arkansas because it wasn’t actually an engagement session until the end! Ahhh surprise proposal! Okay let me start from the beginning.

Courtney and I have been close friends since summer of 2014 where we shared a little room together with one other person. We spent the time in New Mexico getting tattoos, watching One Tree Hill, getting no sleep, and bonding over sarcastic comments. Every year we try to plan a trip (she lives in Missouri), and this year we decided to meet up in Arkansas. As we were drawing closer, I thought it would be a fun idea to make it a couples trip! I still hadn’t met Derek and thought it would be fun to do a couples session for them in a new area.

Jake and I drove together for 8 hours (okay, he did most of the driving) in pouring rain. It didn’t stop us from being amazed at all the gorgeous trees and greenery (lol can you tell we live in Texas?). Courtney has been waiting for a proposal and off-handedly mentioned that she thought it could be this weekend…and I was like, “Uh, sorry to burst your bubble but homeboy has not even mentioned anything to me so probably not.” So it got to Saturday, and we started taking photos around our Airbnb. It was so so pretty and they were so fun to shoot! I knew the proposal could not be happening because he didn’t say anything to me. Sure enough…we reached the end of our session and I asked if there was anything else they wanted to do. With a couple of mumbles of, “No, I think we got everything,” and, “I think I’m good,” Derek pulls a super sly move. He’s just holding Courtney’s hand and asks me, “Do you do proposal photos?” I just picked up my camera so fast and started clicking away as he got down on one knee. It was so so sweet, and so special for me to be able to witness this – much less capture it!
