Melanie and Michael live in Washington D.C., but Melanie grew up in Abilene. So, they wanted to keep the wedding close to family and the T & P Event Center was the perfect place. they still brought their sophisticated, classy D.C. style to the ‘lene. With Melanie’s custom-made dress from Modern Trousseau, the bridesmaids’ gorgeously formal and stylish emerald dresses, and the guys black suits…it could’ve been all out of movie.
The vines that are all along the the park across the street give me chills. The amazing trees that line the ceremony space make me feel like I’m anywhere but West Texas. Melanie and Michael did such a great job at complimenting this place with their emerald green, gold, and black color scheme. It was seriously the most beautiful day. I also loved their reception decorations of old books. It fit this brilliant couple and their personalities perfectly!
I loved that they chose to get ready at Melanie’s old home. It was so cozy and comfortable, which is exactly what you want when preparing for your big day. Melanie was the most prepared bride. She actually had the wedding guide filled with tips I sent her out just to make sure she wasn’t forgetting anything. How perfect is that?!
Finally, it was time for the first look. We drove to the parking lot at T & P Event Center, and Michael was waiting with his eyes closed because he was afraid to see her before it was time. I ran across the street and got him set up, and we awaited his perfect bride! The first look was honestly just so joyful!
Once again, it just felt like it was straight out of a movie! Luckily during those thirty minutes, no trains came by! There were purposeful readings and prayer and laughable moments. Also, I can’t forget to mention the fantastic dancing down the aisle after they were pronounced husband and wife. SO MUCH JOY!
I pulled Melanie and Michael away at the perfect time, and gorgeous glowing colors danced around us as we took more portraits. Taking photos of these two is so much fun! For their engagement session, I went to D.C. where they lived. I really got to know them this weekend, which led to this part on their wedding day being a total blast. I’m so thankful for these new friendships!
The reception was so fun, of course. With the A&M songs and chants and the classic line dances, the floor was never empty. I could tell Melanie and Michael were having the time of their lives with their favorite people. It was so fun to be a part of and capture!
Enough talk, be sure to look at all these photos from their perfect day at the T & P Event Center! And if you’re getting married, I would love to chat with you about your wedding day! Let’s make all your photo dreams come true!
