I have so much to say about this engagement session at The Acre in Abilene. Ashlynn and Aaron were so fun to be around on this day, and overcame a whole bunch for our session! For one, Aaron is currently in Arkansas while Ashlynn is in DFW, so they traveled lots of miles for our engagement shoot! One of the first ways we bonded was over that long distance struggle. My husband and I were long distance for two years, but it felt like an eternity! There are so many special things about long distance, though. The way you learn to communicate with each other, to solely rely on verbally getting to know one another. The way you learn how to work through arguments, sacrifice time to talk on the phone or FaceTime. The list could go on, but the coolest thing (and also the hardest thing) is the longing you feel for each other. As you scroll down this post, pay special attention to the way these two love one another. The deep satisfaction they have in being in the other’s presence. The joy they feel, the sweet connection. I cannot believe that I get to meet couples like them and capture such beautiful love stories. With them, I was reminded of the long distance relationship I had with my husband. The crazy long phone conversations, the extremely long road trips, the weekends that went by way too fast…and I’m grateful to have been reminded of how dang lucky I am to go home to him everyday. Ashlynn and Aaron will be there soon enough!
The Acre was a beautiful place to shoot our engagement session. Even though it was 40 degrees (of course the ONE day of that week that was cold), the flower bushes were blooming and I got all the spring vibes! The greenery was stunning, the trees were breathtaking, and I’m in love with the white picket fences. Ashlynn and Aaron were seriously so much fun. I loved just watching them flirt with each other, and Aaron’s go-to is definitely the kiss on the cheek and it is ADORABLE. Ashlynn also has the cutest snort-laugh that gave me so much joy. I was so blessed by this couple last week, and I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in Bentonville, Arkansas this upcoming November! It will be my first time there, and I’m so excited.
