Winter Wedding at the Mill Abilene | Laura + Zach

This winter wedding at The Mill Abilene was such a sweet celebration.

This Mill Abilene wedding wasn’t your typical wedding, it really was just a celebration. You see, Laura and Zach had already been married for about two months by this day. They eloped in October, but wanted to still make sure their family could be a part of their commitment to each other. And it really was such a sweet celebration!

I had been looking forward to this day ever since our engagement session back in April.

Because we had SO MUCH FUN. If you haven’t seen it, you have to take a look HERE. I knew based on just talking on the phone with Laura and Zach that we would get along, but it was that much better in person. Zach is a total goofball, and couldn’t help making both me and Laura laugh that whole evening in downtown Dallas.

My favorite part about this wedding was that Laura and Zach got ready together.

The Mill Abilene wedding venue has such a gorgeous getting ready room upstairs. If you’ve followed me, you probably already know how much I love getting ready photos! This one was totally new for me, but I LOVED it. It was so fun hanging out with both parties all afternoon. Usually, I am splitting my time between the couple. They spent the afternoon looking YouTube videos on how to tie a tie, Laura did her hair and makeup while Zach was really just chilling, and as they both told me all about the day of their elopement. Seriously, best getting ready experience I’ve ever had! I know it is unconventional, but I think more couples should consider getting ready together like this. It was so sweet and intimate!

We took some photos, and before we knew it, family and friends started showing up.

Everybody was so happy to see the newlyweds. Laura and Zach danced with each other, and then took turns with the father/daughter dance and the mother/son dance. WHOOF, these both were so emotional. Laura and her father’s song was always “Butterfly Kisses”, and as it started playing a video of Laura dancing as a child showed up on the screen. How he pulled this off without her knowing about it, I have no clue! But to see her face as that video started was priceless. Both Laura and her father cried and held each other to their song, and it was so sweet.

Zach’s mom couldn’t be there for the earlier elopement. As soon as she saw him, she started tearing up. She really let go when they started dancing, though. It was such a beautiful moment between the two of them, and these are the kinds of moments I live for. Capturing emotion, true feeling, is something I will never get tired of. I feel so honored to be a part of such intimate and personal moments.

So take a look at these two! If you are looking for a photographer to capture the personal moments of your day, let’s talk! I would love to be there.
