Washington DC Engagement Photos at The Library of Congress | Melanie + Michael
This engagement session in Washington D.C. gives me ALL THE FEELS. Mostly because it reminds me of the best weekend ever spent with Michael and Melanie. I love that the two parts to this session are SO DIFFERENT. The first spot we went to was the Library of Congress, which made me feel like I was in the Citadel in Game of Thrones. The white marble columns and the intricate design work all across the walls and ceilings had me mesmerized. It was the perfect spot for a more formal look, and it just felt like we were ballroom dancing all over the place. The Library of Congress was actually where Michael proposed to Melanie, so it was soooo awesome to shoot in such a special place to this couple! The second spot we went to was a park nearby Melanie’s house, because it’s become one of her favorite places since moving to D.C. It was way more casual, and had the most beautiful greens I’ve ever seen. We then hung out on Melanie’s porch, and enjoyed the perfect evening to an even better day.
Melanie and Michael are getting married here in Texas, but they currently live in Washington D.C. They paid for my flight, and Melanie hosted me and my husband, Jake, in her adorable home right outside the city. It was seriously AMAZING. They were both were such great hosts with the best tourist recommendations and the mouth-watering smell of bacon in the morning. Melanie is an INCREDIBLE cook and made us a delicious dinner, too. It was so fun to spend the entire weekend with them! Jake and I had never been to the Capitol before, so it was really such an amazing opportunity to get paid to travel and see such a cool city. We went to multiple museums, and enjoyed such good food (there were SO MANY options), and really embraced that public transportation life. This was just one of those pivotal moments where I felt really grateful for my job in allowing me to travel and hang out with such great people. Having the entire weekend together really just made me that much more excited for Michael and Melanie’s wedding coming up this October! They’ve become such dear friends, and I cannot wait to capture them on their wedding day!
