White Sands Elopement in New Mexico | Chelsea + Cody

This White Sands Elopement was over a year ago, and I’m still not over it.

When I shot this White Sands Elopement, I had a different editing style than I do now. So, I went through all of them again with my current editing style, and you know what? I fell in love all over again! This shoot was earlier on in my business and I just remember feeling so creative and pumped up. It made me realize how much I wanted photography to be my full-time job. It made me feel like I could do shoots like this for the rest of my life! Just a few months later, I took the leap into this gig full-time!

Chelsea and Cody were the most amazing couple for this shoot.

These are two quick-to-laugh type people right here, and it made the whole day so much fun. They are just truly joyful human beings that took on the day in the most carefree and fun-spirited way you can. We were jumping up and down, dancing, and kicking sand all over the place. It was a total blast.

One thing I love about elopements is how stress-free the days can be.

Sure, there are things to get set up. But once everything came together (with the amazing team we had, mind you), everything else was a total breeze. First, we took some individual portraits of the bride and groom before the quick little ceremony they had. Then, we just took a bunch of pictures as we explored the endless white sand together as the sun set over the mountains. Can you think of anything more perfect for your big day?

My favorite part of this White Sands elopement was when Chelsea and Cody ran off to a sand dune further out.

The sun was setting just over the dunes, and this sweet couple looked as tiny as ants. They danced and walked together in the distance, with a gorgeous sun-flare exploding next to them. It was MAGICAL. It felt totally surreal, and nature was showing off for us. Chelsea’s dress looked gorgeous in her silhouette, creating so much movement even with so much distance. I think those will be some of my favorite pictures I ever take.

If you are interested in eloping somewhere gorgeous like the White Sands, I want to be there for it! Seriously, you would be amazed at how beautiful it is to recite your vows in the vastness of a place like this. Let’s plan something magical together!
