Seriously, I don’t think I will ever get over this wedding at the White Sparrow Barn. It was AMAZING. We’re talking the sweetest daddy/daughter and mother/bride moments, the kindest bridal party, the most gorgeous florals, happiest first look, and a freaking active dance floor. There are so many elements that made this day so special, and I really can’t wait to share all of them with you. Before we get into the details of the wedding, I just want to say how thankful I am to have met and become friends with Sarah and Thomas. These two are so deeply in love, it’s obvious to anyone in their presence. They’re gentle, kind-hearted, and a whole lot of fun! Their love was so apparent for one another as well as for their friends and family that came to celebrate with them.
The White Sparrow Barn really is a dream wedding venue for any photographer. The white walls, the open space, and the insane amounts of natural light are three components to make a wedding photographer VERY happy. Sarah and Thomas attended a wedding at the White Sparrow when they were dating and fell in love! Sarah was so drawn to the elegance and simplicity of the space. With such a clean slate, any couple can make this space their own. Sarah and Thomas really wanted to keep a simple, elegant vibe so they mostly stuck to neutral colors and greenery.
Harvest Floral Co. did an amazing job with the florals that decorated the entire space! The tables, the stairwell, and the altar were covered in the most gorgeous greenery I’ve ever seen! The White Sparrow also had an amazing coordinator, Marissa, who really brought everything together. The venue also has so many outdoor spaces that were absolutely breathtaking. A lavender field, giant trees, and tons of open space.
You can feel the energy in the room as the ceremony time gets closer and closer. There is so much excitement and anticipation. There are so many sweet moments that are had with loved ones. It’s all starting to feel real! I loved capturing the finishing touches of Sarah’s makeup, her mother helping into her dress and realizing the day is actually here. This is not just another alterations moment, people!
Sarah gave her mom the sweetest gift, a painting of the two of them on this day. Sarah is an only child, so her parents were seriously feeling all the feels. Then, it came time for the first look with the bridesmaids and everyone was just stunned at the hottie friend standing before them! And of course, Sarah’s first look with her dad was unforgettable. There’s nothing like the awe and pride coming from a father as he sees his daughter on her wedding day.
I know there is tons of debate between picking a first-look or a traditional isle first-look. Personally, I think either could work and be absolutely amazing. However, I’m so glad Thomas and Sarah decided to do a first look in the landing filled with trees right outside the venue. There was so much anticipation as Sarah carried her dress down the long path to where Thomas was standing. When they saw each other, it was pure bliss! Thomas had his jaw on the floor, and Sarah had the biggest smile. They shared their personal vows together in private, and it was such a special moment.
I think sometimes through all of the wedding planning, sometimes people look over the ceremony. It makes sense…the ceremony lasts only about thirty minutes in the midst of an 8-hour day you’re planning! But, let us not forget what this day is all about. Sarah and Thomas had a purposeful ceremony where their church pastor from college reminded us all of the covenant that marriage is and the commitment these two were making to each other. Then, their friend led the guests in worship, which turned out to be the most emotional moment of the whole day for Sarah. She said, “Standing next to my groom, holding his hand, and worshipping our Savior with reckless abandon was the most blissful and holy moment of the whole day.”
There was just so much joy radiating through the White Sparrow wedding venue. Pretty much everyone was getting down on the dance floor, and there were some weird sorority/fraternity songs traditions that came into the mix. All in all, it was seriously the best day ever! And I wasn’t even the one who got married! When I asked Sarah what her favorite moment of the day was, she refused to pick just one. She said it truly just exceeded all the expectations she had, which makes me so happy!
