This Zilker Park engagement shoot in Austin was the most fun EVER.

Even though it was about 100 degrees, Abby and Justin were so much fun to hang out with for their engagement session in Zilker Park. They were immediately comfortable with me and we started off the session just running around and acting like goofballs. Seriously, I love it when my couples aren’t constantly thinking about being photogenic but are just down to have a good time! Zilker Park was the perfect place because there was so much space to be active with the Austin skyline right in view.

Another thing I loved about shooting in Zilker Park this particular evening was all the direct sunlight.

Usually I try to shoot with the sun behind my couples, but in order to get the skyline in view we had to embrace the direct sunlight. AND I LOVED IT. I always love shooting in direct sun. I love embracing the shadows and enhancing the natural skin glow the sun gives. Do these two look amazing in that direct light or what?! And the cloudy blue sky just looked absolutely gorgeous!

These two are Wisconsin natives, and have been living in Austin for the past few years.

I think what I loved most about the way these photos turned out is they seem to really showcase the city of Austin. Abby wanted to have photos with the skyline and the Lamar Boulevard Bridge. I really love that we were able to really explore this city that has now become their new home! And for being from Wisconsin, Abby and Justin really braved the insane heat for this session!

After Zilker Park, we walked along the river a little bit and got some gorgeous shots right by the water. There were tons of people kayaking and paddle-boarding, but we found a sweet little spot to look out and take some more pictures.

Lastly, we strolled on over to the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge in Austin.

All of these spots were super close together, which was so nice. The Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge was the perfect spot to end the evening. You could see the sun setting over the water even though it was a super cloudy day. There were a bunch of people, but we still acted like we had the entire bridge to ourselves! I had such an amazing time hanging out with these two! Soon after this session, Abby and Justin booked me for their intimate wedding in Negril, Jamaica and I’m beyond excited to hang out with them more in a gorgeous place like Jamaica!
